Clowning Around on the Golf Course

GolfDay@HiSylvia_Web The Turi Trust Annual Golf Day is a much anticipated event on our fundraising calendar, and our sixth event certainly lived up to expectations.

The sun was shining and overall it was a great day to be out on the green. Clown Doctors – Dr Noodle and Dr Fizzy Wizzy conducted rounds of the golf holes and were a colourful addition to day.

This year saw a record amount of sponsorship for this event – a result that we are extremely proud of. A total of 18 teams took to the course to play for ultimate bragging rights. The top spot was closely contested, with not much separating the top three teams all day.

The ultimate winners however were the NAB team, who pulled off a fantastic finish to end at the top of the leader board.

We must make special mention of our ladies team who work so hard to compete against all of the men. I am sure everyone would agree that they take out the top prize for determination and enthusiasm.

But the day was not all about the golf….

Once again the objective of this event was to raise as much money as possible for the Clown Doctors, a charity which we have supported through this event for the past six years. The Clown Doctors rely on funds from organisations such as ours in order to continue the wonderful work they do. The Clown Doctors treat sick children with a different kind of medicine – they use doses of laughter to take the edge off their hospital stay.

I am proud to say that our golf day was a very successful event culminating in an overall donation to the Clown Doctors of $22,450. This brings our tally of money donated to the Clown Doctors over the past six years to $92,451.

The day would not have been possible without the hard work of all the team at Turi Foods, our major sponsor Phil Schols of GPS Electrical, and all of
our other sponsors and participants. We are extremely humbled and grateful for your support.

We look forward to reaching our milestone of $100,000 total funds donated to the Clown Doctors next year.
